Zusammenfassung

Die Echokardiographie ist eine nicht-invasive, vielseitige Methode zur Diagnostik und Therapieüberwachung von lebensbedrohlichen Herzerkrankungen. Der vorliegende Artikel fasst die aktuell gültigen Empfehlungen zur Notfallechokardiographie der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kardiologie und der European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging zusammen und beschreibt mit praktischen Hinweisen deren Anwendung in der Notfallmedizin. Die Echokardiographie besitzt einen besonderen Stellenwert in der Diagnostik des akuten Koronarsyndroms und dessen Komplikationen, der Lungenembolie und der Endokarditis sowie für die Differenzialdiagnostik bei Schock und Notfällen. Eine wachsende Domäne der Echokardiographie ist die Therapieüberwachung moderner kardialer Unterstützungssysteme.
