Zusammenfassung

Auch wenn Neugeborenenintensivmedizin möglichst schonend und wenig invasiv ist, gibt es doch einige invasive Prozeduren, die in vital bedrohlichen Situationen lebensrettend sein können und die deshalb beherrscht werden müssen. Dazu zählen die endotracheale Intubation, die Anlage von Nabelgefäßkathetern und die Entlastungspunktion bei Pneumothorax und Pneumoperikard. In diesem Kapitel werden die Vorbereitung und die technische Durchführung wie auch Maßnahmen zur Vermeidung von Komplikationen beschrieben.

Um die Langzeitfolgen eines Delirs bei kritisch Kranken zu mildern, wird vielerorts auf eine Akuttherapie mit Antipsychotika gesetzt. Eine US-amerikanische Forschungsgruppe äußert jetzt erhebliche Vorbehalte gegen dieses Vorgehen. Denn es gibt neue Daten zum Langzeiteffekt von Haloperidol bzw. Ziprasidon versus Placebo.
