Zusammenfassung
Das Plattenepithelkarzinom der Haut (Epithelioma spinocellulare, Stachelzellkarzinom, Spinaliom, spinozelluläres Karzinom, verhornender Plattenepithelkrebs) wird als maligner Tumor der Keratinozyten definiert und ist nach dem Basalzellkarzinom (Basaliom) die zweithäufigste bösartige Neubildung der Haut [2, 20]. Das Verhältnis von Plattenepithelkarzinomen zu Basaliomen beträgt ungefähr 1:10. In Mitteleuropa liegt die Inzidenz bei 12 (Männer) und 6 (Frauen) pro 100 000 Einwohner. Die höchsten Inzidenzraten werden aus Australien (1990: 250 Neuerkrankungen pro 100 000 Einwohner) berichtet, was eindrucksvoll den Zusammenhang mit vermehrter UV-Strahlung als wichtigstem ätiopathogenetischen Faktor widerspiegelt [14]. 90% aller Plattenepithelkarzinome kommen in chronisch-lichtgeschä-digter Haut vor, insbesondere im Kopf-Hals-Bereich einschließlich der Unterlippe und der haarlosen Kopfhaut bei Männern mit Glatze sowie an den Handrücken und den Streckseiten der Unterarme.
