16. Arteriosklerotische Gefäßerkrankungen

Zusammenfassung

Die Inzidenz von Schlaganfällen liegt in den westlichen Industrieländern seit Jahren unverändert bei 200–250 Fällen/100.000 Einwohner. Ein erheblicher Teil ist durch arteriosklerotische Gefäßwandläsionen bedingt, die meist ein generalisiertes Geschehen darstellen, unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen jedoch auch fokal auf einzelne Gefäßabschnitte beschränkt bleiben können. Die Aussagen zur sonographischen Beurteilung arteriosklerotischer Gefäßwandläsionen in diesem Kapitel betreffen überwiegend die extrakranielle A. carotis, da nur diese im Ultraschall hinreichend detailliert erfasst werden kann.
